There will be several narrative exercises peppered over the day however the focus of this masterclass is maximum recording time with 2 takes of every piece you prepare. This session gives you the chance to really hone your voice over and narrative skills whilst getting used to taking professional direction from a director.

Always wanted to voice a particular book or a documentary? Bring it! The last part of the session will be a chance to choose your own script and record it. (There will be plenty of options if you don't want to bring a scene don't worry!)

Day intensive VO Workshop & 1:1 Online Coaching

"Compass has been brilliant at introducing me to the world of voice - focusing on technique, and expanding my comfort zone and my knowledge without feeling overwhelmed.

The feedback I get is implementable, and Jamie is always a quick email away should I have questions. Whether you're looking to delve into adverts, audiobooks, documentaries or video games, Compass coaching is a great place to start."

Throughout the sessions I was impressed by Jamie’s expertise, professionalism and positive energy. I valued his insight and constructive feedback and direction and especially his guidance when it came to choosing extracts for my voice reels. His skills were invaluable in working collaboratively to achieve great results and his enthusiasm and sense of fun in both the workshops and in the recording studio supported me in finding my best performance. The whole process was enjoyable and productive and I would definitely go back to Jamie."

and his patience and candor helped tremendously in making the whole thing seem manageable.

He's got fantastic energy and insight, and he gave me the confidence to pursue voiceover more seriously and to commit on making my first reel, which is something I've wanted to do for a very long time.

It's great to know that he's got my back in the future to call upon, and would highly recommend especially for those who like me were coming in with a lot more questions than answers."

He has always been kind and encouraging and his insightful love of words, phrases, and interpretative nuance has proved invaluable.

I would also recommend him to any amateur thespians seeking to improve their knowledge and understanding of the delivery of text. Still hesitating? - rest assured you won't regret seeking his advice. "
